J.Maybury & Sons are proud to be associated with the restoration of Eccles town hall which is being restored to its former glory with over £200,000 worth of internal and external repairs.
Scaffolding went up in early June 2010, and in conjunction with Warden Construction Ltd and Urban Vision we undertook the Electrical installation improvements on behalf of the council. The project has dramatically improved both the internal and external appearance of the building by repairing windows, cleaning bricks, creating a new entrance, a new reception area and adding a lift to the first floor.
The building is home to a number of council, private sector and partner organisations all of whom were operating throughout the improvements.
The local landmark is a much loved part of Eccles history, so much so that back in 1963 residents asked Lowry himself to capture the building in his only sketching visit to Eccles, which is now kept as part of the LS Lowry collection.
The town hall was originally designed by Mr John Lowe in 1881 and built on the site of the old cockpit by the Local Board of Health, the forerunners to the local council.
For many years the whole of the former town hall was devoted to magistrates' courts, and has even featured as a court scene in an episode of Coronation Street.
Cllr David Lancaster, deputy leader of Salford City Council said: "The town hall is such an important part of Eccles history so I am very pleased to see the renovation works taking shape. The building is at the heart of the community and we want residents to have a say in how the building is used in the future. Anyone with suggestions can contact the neighbourhood management team on 0161 603 4290.

We have many years of experience in dealing with the individual challenges posed by listed buildings and places of worship including the grade II listed Wynnstay Hall, Wrexham, Wales a former school now converted.
We would welcome enquiries from anyone needing help with alterations or upgrades to similar properties.
